At Curtin, respect shapes how we learn, work and engage with one another.
Respect Starts With You is a student-created campaign focused on the prevention of gender-based violence, sexual harassment and sexual assault.
Every person at Curtin deserves to feel safe, valued and able to participate fully. We celebrate diversity and expect all members of our community to foster a culture of genuine care: treating others with dignity, listening to different perspectives and contributing to a positive and inclusive environment.
Respect Starts With You has three key messages:
See
To prevent gender-based violence on a community level, we should all be able to see the signs and recognise what gender-based violence is.
Information for students and staff
Speak
We all have a collective responsibility to speak up, be active bystanders and challenge disrespectful behaviours and social norms.
More about being an active bystander
Support
Showing love and support for yourself and those around you fosters a community where people are empowered to call out disrespectful behaviour and seek help.
If you have concerns about the safety, security, or wellbeing of yourself or others, you can report an incident online, call our Safer Community Team on 08 9266 4444, or if it is an emergency call 000 for immediate police or ambulance assistance.
