From Wednesday 1 July you can choose to pay your parking fine by donating $15 worth of non-perishable food items – with all donations going directly to Curtin Guild Pantry and Feed it Forward.
Here’s how it works:
- Receive a parking fine* that is issued between 1 July and 31 July 2026
- Purchase a minimum of $15 worth of non-perishable food items – such as canned goods, pasta or UHT milk – and keep your receipt
- Drop your donation and receipt to the Security, Traffic and Parking Office (B115) on weekdays between 8am and 3pm
- Guild Student Pantry and Feed it Forward will distribute donations to students and local families experiencing food insecurity
*Please note that fines not issued in July 2026, overdue fines and fines received from parking in ACROD, courtesy, reserved, EV or non-parking bays are not eligible to be paid via donation.
Only fines issued between 1 July and 31 July 2026 are eligible for Food for Fines.
Guild Student Pantry
The Guild Student Pantry, offered through Student Assist, supports Curtin students facing financial hardship by providing free access to essential food with no judgement or barriers to entry.
The Guild Student Pantry stocks a range of non-perishable pantry staples and encourages all to take only what is needed to ensure resources are shared equitably.
Location: Guild Building 106F
Opening Days: Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday
Opening Hours: 10:00am – 12:00pm and 2:00pm – 3:30pm

Feed it Forward
Feed it Forward is a not-for-profit charity that rescues surplus food, redistributing it to communities in need. They collect good, edible food from donors, including major supermarkets, farmers and food manufacturers, preventing it from ending up in landfill and ensuring it reaches those who need it most.
In 2025 our 500+ volunteer network saved 3.57million kgs of edible food from landfill and distributed to 441,000 families and more than 2000 community groups which include schools, universities, childcare and aged care centres, soup kitchens, aboriginal groups, church groups.
Feed it Forward encourage anyone experiencing food insecurity to reach out for support via their contact page.

Food for Fines FAQ
Non-perishable items that are suitable for donation include:
- Non-perishable items: canned goods (fruit, vegetables, soups, beans), pasta, rice, cereals, muesli bars, peanut butter, etc.
- Shelf-stable beverages: bottled water, juice boxes, long life milk, cordial, etc.
- Dry goods: flour, sugar, salt, spices, condiments, coffee, tea, powdered milk, etc.
- Packaged snacks: crackers, cookies, popcorn, trail mixes, dried fruits, etc.
- Baby items: formula, baby purees, teething rusks, etc.
We are unable to take the following donations:
- Items requiring refrigeration
- Home-made items: jams, sauces, etc.
- Non-edible items: toothpastes, deodorants, toys, etc.
To ensure food safety standards are met please make sure all donations are sealed, undamaged and have a minimum of three months remaining prior to their “Best Before” or “Use By” dates.
The Food for Fines campaign will commence 8am Wednesday 1 July, 2026 and will conclude at 3pm Friday 31 July, 2026
How long will the Food for Fines campaign run?+
All donations are to be delivered to the Security, Parking and Traffic Office (B115) on weekdays between 8am and 3pm.
All donations must be valued at $15 or more, with a receipt provided if in lieu of a parking ticket payment.
Please note that fines not issued in July 2026, overdue fines and fines received from parking in ACROD, courtesy, reserved, EV or non-parking bays are not eligible to be paid via donation.
Absolutely! If you have non-perishable items sitting in your pantry that are sealed, undamaged and have a minimum of three months remaining prior to their “Best Before” or “Use By” dates, you are more than welcome to donate them.
Please note, a receipt is only required if the donation is in lieu of a parking ticket payment.
All donations received during the Food for Fines campaign will be distributed to Guild Student Pantry and Feed it Forward.
Donations will be collected in July by volunteers, who will ensure that goods are distributed to students and those in the local community who are experiencing food insecurity and financial hardship.
