The Goldfields University Department of Rural Health (GUDRH) recently hosted a three-part Breakfast Series in Kalgoorlie, bringing together local allied health professionals in a relaxed setting to connect, share ideas and explore opportunities for collaboration.
Across the three sessions, a total of 19 health professionals attended, representing a strong cross-section of the Goldfields allied health workforce. It was encouraging to see so many passionate clinicians in the room, all contributing to the health and wellbeing of the community.
The informal breakfast format created space for meaningful conversations, with participants sharing their own insights, experiences and perspectives across a variety of settings. Discussions focused on current workforce challenges, while also identifying opportunities to work differently and more collaboratively.
A key focus of the series was strengthening student placement experiences. Participants explored new and flexible supervision models, as well as practical ways to increase placement opportunities across the region. These conversations provided valuable insights that will help guide GUDRH’s future activities to better support local workforce and community needs.
There was also strong interest in maintaining momentum beyond these initial breakfast sessions, with attendees excited for ongoing connection through a local Community of Practice. This presents an exciting opportunity to foster continued collaboration, shared learning and peer support across the Goldfields.
GUDRH sincerely thanks all attendees for their time, engagement, and willingness to share their ideas. We look forward to continuing these important conversations with our allied health community.
