Goldfields community invited to thank local health professionals during November for National Rural Health Month.
The Goldfields University Department of Rural Health (GUDRH) is hosting a month-long initiative to celebrate the dedication of our rural healthcare champions throughout Rural Health Month.
During November, community members are invited to submit short messages of thanks to show their appreciation, with all anonymous messages to be gathered and presented to Goldfields health professionals at the end of the month in recognition of their invaluable contribution to community wellbeing.
GUDRH Director, Professor Fiona Doolan-Noble, said the initiative provided an important opportunity to pause and acknowledge the dedication of those working in rural and remote healthcare.
“Our Goldfields health professionals demonstrate extraordinary commitment to keeping our community healthy while working in a, sometimes isolating, rural and remote setting. However, it’s a workplace environment with a unique opportunity to make a real difference in your local community – and can often be far more rewarding and impactful than in metropolitan practice,” Professor Doolan-Noble said.
Other Rural Health Month initiatives include a street-side banner displayed throughout November at Curtin Kalgoorlie’s Rural Health Campus, along with direct engagement with Goldfields’ clinical supervisors who play a vital role in guiding GUDRH nursing and allied health students throughout the year.
Professor Doolan-Noble encouraged the Goldfields community to take a moment to recognise their local health professionals.
“Rural and remote health professionals make such a significant difference to our lives and our community,” she said. “This is our chance to let them know how much their work is valued and appreciated.”
National Rural Health Month runs throughout November and celebrates the dedication of healthcare workers in rural and remote areas across Australia, highlighting the unique challenges and rewards of working outside metropolitan centres.
