Campus parking update

As you know, parking at our Bentley campus is an ongoing challenge as the University continues to grow and evolve. We are doing our best to manage demand and supply but recognise the impact this can have on some members of our community.

To help you stay informed and plan ahead, we wanted to let you know about a change coming early next year. From Semester 1, construction will begin on the Australian Hockey Centre at the northern end of campus, which will affect parking bay availability.

The project to develop the Australian Hockey Centre is being led by the State Government, who spearheaded a successful bid to keep Australia’s home of hockey in WA for the next 18 years. The existing Australian Institute of Sport Hockey Unit has been located on leased Crown land at Curtin since 1984. More on the Australian Hockey Centre project can be found here.

This project will close around 600 Curtin parking bays and affect access for staff and students (see map below). We are sharing this information now to help you prepare and make any necessary changes to how you travel to campus.

Throughout the year, we’ve been listening to your feedback and engaging with staff and students in a variety of ways. One of the outcomes has been a successful student-led campaign that’s helped boost public transport use.

Building on this momentum, and in addition to the temporary overflow measures already in place, we are actively exploring a range of other practical initiatives and incentives, including adding extra bays, to help make this time easier to manage. We will share further details as soon as they become available.

In the meantime, please visit the Bentley Campus Parking page for updates.

Your efforts to plan ahead and consider alternative ways to get to campus are greatly appreciated.

The following carparks off University Boulevard will be impacted at various stages:

  • PA1, PA2 (part), PA3, PA5
