The Art of Slow Looking

John Curtin Gallery 6 Aug 2026 1:00pm-2:00pm

Join us for a Slow Looking tour exploring the Christopher Pease: Terra Nullius exhibition at JCG.

Facilitated by Gallery Education Coordinator Mel Macauley, this mindful practice creates space and time to connect more deeply with art. Rather than rushing from artwork to artwork, participants are introduced to three selected artworks and encouraged to sit, pause, observe and allow the work to reveal itself, following where it leads their thoughts and feelings.

During the session, we will introduce simple pedagogy for engaging with art through mindful observation and reflection. Following the tour, enjoy tea and coffee with the other participants and share what you noticed, discovered and experienced together.

This event is being hosted in support of Curtin’s Disability Pride Month, in partnership with Act, Belong, Commit’s Active August month.
