Customise your degree
Tailor your studies to your interests, passions and career goals. You don’t need to decide everything straight away – you can finalise your choices during your first semester.
Step 1: Choose two business specialisations
A specialisation is a set of four units focused on a single area of study. With half as many units as a major, it gives you the flexibility to build knowledge across two fields that interest you.
Choose two of these business specialisations to study:
- Accounting for Business Decisions¹
- Advertising Management
- Applied Finance¹
- Business Law and Policy¹
- Business Project Management
- Business Strategy
- Corporate Governance¹
- Employment Relations
- Entertainment and Creative Industries
- Event Management
- Fashion Marketing
- Information Systems in Business
- Innovation and Entrepreneurship
- International Management¹
- Marketing Foundations¹
- Property
- Small Business Start-Up
- Social Leadership and Ethics
- Social Media and Digital Marketing¹
- Strategic Communication
- Supply Chain Analytics¹
- Taxation Law¹
- Tourism and Hospitality Essentials

- Workforce Management¹
¹ Available to study fully online.
Step 2: Complement your choice
Select one of these two options:
Option A: A third specialisation
Advance your business knowledge with another business specialisation from the list in step one.
Or, choose an approved specialisation in arts, design or science to explore another area.
You could study Construction Management, Digital Design, Environmental Planning, Journalism, Surveying and Spatial Sciences – whatever sparks your interests.
See the full list of specialisations.
Option B: Four elective units
Electives are units you can select from across the University, provided you meet any required prerequisites for the unit.
Choose four electives to explore other study areas, broaden your skills and try something new.
Step 3: Put your skills into practice
In your final year, you’ll complete a practical learning unit, also known as a capstone experience unit, to further your practical skills and finish off your studies.
This course includes the following capstone experience unit.
- Wicked Challenges: Explore complex real-world problems through multidisciplinary, project-based learning. You’ll collaborate with peers, academics and industry experts to consider issues affecting people at individual, community and global levels.
Alternatively, you may be able to study the capstone experience units below, which provide different real-world opportunities.
- Business Clinic: Apply your business knowledge, ethical decision-making and problem-solving skills to a consulting environment, working directly with individuals, small organisations and start-ups. You’ll grow confidence in your skills by responding to real business challenges.
- Business Internship: Apply your analytical thinking and professional skills in a real workplace by contributing to industry projects and activities, helping you build career readiness and confidence. You’ll be supported by an academic adviser and an industry professional, with opportunities to expand your professional network.
- Business and Law International Experience: Broaden your perspective, build your intercultural capacity and continue your studies overseas by studying a short course with one of our global exchange partners.
- Business Study Tour or International Business Project: Immerse yourself in local or international industry settings through site visits, guest lectures and team projects. With the guidance of our academic staff, you’ll develop your leadership, problem-solving and global industry skills.
- Enhancing Your Business Mind: Use your entrepreneurial skills, business ideas and critical thinking to solve real workplace challenges. You’ll build employability skills and prepare for life after university.
Note: Capstone eligibility and availability may vary based on academic performance, room in your study plan and any applicable travel restrictions. This does not apply to Enhancing Your Business Mind.
