It was all smiles at the final Interprofessional Education (IPE) session for our Goldfields UDRH placement students last week. Through our series of IPE workshops, students explored how interprofessional practice can support improved coordination across hospital settings, reduce healthcare costs, and enhance understanding of other professional roles and responsibilities, ultimately improving patient care and outcomes.
Students participating in our IPE workshops have enhanced their communication and collaboration skills while working with students from other healthcare disciplines. The workshops have provided students with greater insight into the ways in which the complex health environment needs to work together to achieve a common goal, and how interprofessional practice is fundamental to working in rural healthcare.
