Today we celebrated International Nurses Day with our nursing students and Goldfields UDRH Clinical Nurse Facilitator, Tanya Kinslow. This year’s theme is “Our Nurses. Our Future. Caring for nurses strengthens economies”, and focuses on the health and wellbeing of our nurses. The theme underscores the critical role a healthy nursing workforce plays in strengthening economies, improving health systems, and ensuring better outcomes for communities worldwide.
Students also spent time compiling a list of ways to prioritise their own health and wellbeing while on placement here in the Goldfields – some great tips for our current and future nursing and allied health students!
- Exercise every day after a shift
- Call loved ones, partners and family, daily
- Spend time debriefing with roommates
- Join in community activities such as the Kalgoorlie Boulder Parkrun
- Aim to make freshly cooked meals every day
- Grab some fresh air outside after being inside all day
- Stay hydrated and enjoy 2 x pieces of fruit every day
- Get adequate sleep every night
