Curtin Business School’s Wesfarmers Court was abuzz in November with nearly 200 delegates from 113 international business schools attending workshops and networking exhibitions as part of the 2016 Eduniversal World Convention.

The Eduniversal World Convention is an annual event bringing together the world’s top business schools. Previously held at Harvard Business School, this year was the first time the convention was held in Australia.

Curtin Business School hosted the delegates over three days at the Bentley Campus. Some of the top international business schools in attendance included Copenhagen Business School, Trinity College, Indian Institute of Management Bangalore, Emlyon Business School and Fudan University.

Delegates were welcomed to Perth by The Right Honourable the Lord Mayor Lisa Scaffidi, who spoke warmly about Perth’s many attractions and her time as a former WAIT student.

The international guests attended a series of panel discussions and workshops on innovation and best practice in international education. Curtin Business School Pro Vice-Chancellor and Executive Dean Professor Tony Travaglione welcomed the delegates in a speech that emphasised the importance of global collaboration, impactful research and the need to embrace new technologies and pedagogies.

A highlight of the event was a keynote speech delivered by Professor Paolo Boccardelli, Dean at LUISS Business School in Rome, Italy. Other notable speakers included IEAA CEO Hon. Phil Honeywood and Professor Sourav Mukherji from the Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore. Curtin speakers included Deputy Vice-Chancellor International Professor Seth Kunin, Deputy Vice-Chancellor Academic Professor Jill Downie and Bankwest Curtin Economics Centre Director Professor Alan Duncan.

Delegates visited The Trading Room and The Agency as well as The Hive, John Curtin Gallery and the Centre for Aboriginal Studies. Many of the delegates expressed their admiration for Curtin’s innovative learning spaces, facilities and friendly staff.

The convention positively raised the profile of Curtin Business School among business schools internationally.

“The brand building and networking opportunities that the convention afforded CBS have been excellent,” says Professor Travaglione.

Eduniversal CEO and Founder Martial Guiette thanked Professor Tony Travaglione and Dean International and Accreditation Professor Grant O’Neill for hosting the event. Mr Guiette said the event was a fantastic success and thanked the delegates for their support.
