Are you ready to take your studies further and explore international opportunities?
Curtin’s Campus Transfer Program lets you begin your studies at one of our global campuses and then transfer to Curtin Australia – our main campus in Perth, Western Australia (WA). It’s a chance to build a global mindset, gain industry insights and advance your learning.
For Evangeline Tanoto, transferring from Curtin Singapore to Curtin Australia was a step toward her career goals and a chance to grow personally and academically.
Where it all started: Curtin Singapore
Evangeline’s journey began at Curtin Singapore, where she enrolled in our Bachelor of Information Technology. From the outset, she was driven to gain an international perspective and eventually transfer to another Curtin campus.
“Curtin University has multiple campuses across the world, allowing me to study internationally and experience a truly global education,” explains Evangeline.
“I knew transferring campuses could be a life-changing experience that would strengthen my future career.”
Curtin’s strong rankings in information technology and long history of teaching the subject also gave Evangeline confidence in her decision.
“Curtin’s high rankings in the subject of Information Technology stood out to me,” she says. “The university was formerly known as the Western Australia Institute of Technology, showcasing their commitment to academic excellence and history of teaching technology.”
Support made the transfer journey smooth
Transferring campus is a big change – and for Evangeline, Curtin’s support made the transition seamless.
“The process of transferring to Curtin Perth was smooth, thanks to the strong support from my agent and the Curtin team. They responded promptly to my questions and helped resolve issues quickly,” she says.
Our scholarships also made a difference for Evangeline and her family.
“Studying abroad as an international student is a big decision, especially because it can be financially demanding. My scholarship covered part of my tuition fees, which was incredibly helpful.
“Receiving this scholarship showed me and my parents that Curtin supports international students to grow and succeed – and it made the decision to transfer much easier.”
Evangeline notes the commitment to immersive learning opportunities as a standout part of being a Curtin Australia student.
“Workshops, hackathons and hands-on projects pushed me out of my comfort zone and gave me the confidence to apply what I learned in real-world settings,” Evangeline says.
“Through clubs and events, I’ve networked with industry experts and built strong connections with the Curtin community.
“These experiences are helping me become a collaborative, adaptable graduate and a great communicator. The teamwork and leadership skills I’m developing here will be exciting to take into my career.”
Evangeline is already looking ahead to her career – aspiring to work in IT and user experience design in the healthcare industry.
“The experiences I’m having at Curtin Australia are creating a strong foundation for my future career in the tech industry, whichever career path I choose.”
What is it like to live in Australia?
So, what is it like to move from Singapore to Perth, Australia?
Well, a campus transfer to Curtin Australia comes with its challenges – like new routines, lifestyles and communities – but that’s what makes the experience so rewarding. For Evangeline, moving to Perth was about embracing the differences in people and place.
“Perth is home to such a diverse mix of ethnicities and cultures, and everyone has been so welcoming,” she explains. “In day-to-day interactions, people here are genuinely friendly, which has made settling in much easier.”
Evangeline also loved swapping skyscrapers for scenic spaces.
“One of the things I have enjoyed most during my transfer has been Perth’s beautiful weather and ‘road trip’ destinations. I’ve been fortunate enough to travel north and explore deserts, spot wild kangaroos, meet quokkas and even swim with dolphins in the wild.
“Living in Perth has been such a unique experience for me, and I am enjoying every part of it.”
