What if part of your Curtin degree took you across Indonesia?

The Indonesia Study Tour 2026 is a unique opportunity for Curtin students interested in media, culture and communication to spend four weeks learning and working across Java.

From studying Bahasa Indonesia in Surabaya to visiting media organisations in Jakarta, the tour blends academic learning with real-world industry exposure.

Students will also explore Indonesia’s rich cultural history through experiences across Java, including visits to significant cultural sites and creative communities.

What you’ll gain from the program

During the four-week study tour, you will:

  • Study Indonesian language through immersive learning
  • Experience Javanese culture, traditions and creative practices
  • Visit leading Indonesian media organisations
  • Collaborate with Indonesian students on communication projects
  • Develop global perspectives for careers in creative industries

Students enrol in COMS3000 Study Tour, earning academic credit while gaining international experience.

Funded international experience

The program is supported by Australia’s New Colombo Plan, which provides approximately $4,000 in funding to support flights, accommodation, tuition and other study tour costs.

How to apply

To apply for the program:

  1. Attend a Curtin Go Global information session
  2. Submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) by 30 September 2026

Your EOI should include a 200-word statement outlining why you want to join the study tour.

This program is open to eligible Curtin students who are interested in global experience and future careers connected to Southeast Asia.
