Finance and legal
The Financial Literacy Workshop for Women equips women in regional and remote areas with the knowledge and skills to make informed financial decisions and plan for their financial futures.
Recipients of the Allison Taylor Single Mum Scholarship receive access to the Financial Literacy Workshop for Women. Please contact the University Advancement team to access this workshop.
The Curtin Tax Clinic assists students, staff and community members on tax-related enquiries such as reporting, filing requirements, completing a tax return, or responding to the Australian Taxation Office (ATO).
Recipients of the Allison Taylor Single Mum Scholarship receive individualised support through the Curtin Tax Clinic. Please contact the University Advancement team to be put in contact with a representative from the Curtin Tax Clinic.
The John Curtin Law Clinic provides legal advice and assistance for those who cannot afford paid legal services or are ineligible to receive pro-bono legal services.
The Guild help students to access services based on their situation, offering a list of legal services that provide pro-bono or lower cost services for varying personal circumstances.
Health, safety and wellbeing
Student Wellbeing advisors provide support to students who may be struggling with their personal life or studies, by assisting in finding appropriate advice for their concerns.
Counselling services are available for students on a short-term basis, providing free, confidential and independent support to help address any issues in their personal or student life.
Social workers can help students who need assistance with their living situation, finances or relationships.
A range of free and confidential resources to support those who have experienced or been affected by sexual assault and/or harassment.
The community pantry provides support to students facing financial difficulties by providing low-barrier access to basic food supplies and other essential supplies.
The Safer Community Team manage safety and security issues on campus, including providing a range of services to ensure the safety of students, staff and visitors on campus. This includes escort services, mechanical assistance, courtesy bus services, and their SafeZone security app.
Specialised support services are available for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students in a range of areas such as academic tutoring, work placements, healthcare, and counselling.
Indigenous students at Curtin can access specialised services with an Aboriginal psychologist. providing a safe, confidential, professional and free space to talk. Their offices are located both in the Centre for Aboriginal Studies (CAS) and the Psychological and Counselling Service.
The Guild offers a support and advocacy service for students including a list of relevant wellbeing and mental health resources.
Through their Student Assist program, the Guild provides additional resources to support students who are renting including the legal protections and services available.
The Guild provides a range of resources to support students’ nutrition and fitness during their studies such as accessing the Curtin Stadium, healthy recipes, and where to access affordable, quality foods.
Parenting and childcare
The Perth campus provides parenting rooms, milk storage facilities, baby change rooms, and has an Early Learning Centre available for students and staff.
The Early Learning Centre provides care for children from five years of age and younger in a creative and nurturing environment.
The program provides fun, high-energy school holiday activity for children between five to thirteen years of age to participate with the support of trained and qualified supervisors.
The Guild offers the Curtin Student Guild Childcare Grant for students facing financial hardship, which has impacted their ability to provide childcare while attending classes, practicums, exams, and other essential student activities.
Career and education support
Curtin Ignition is an annual 5.5-day bootcamp program designed for aspiring entrepreneurs, academics and corporate innovators to prepare and trial their business ideas for the commercial market. The program is suited to founders of early stage, high-growth business ventures and people with new ideas that have the potential to become worldwide businesses.
As a recipient of the Allison Taylor Single Mum Scholarship, if you have an early-stage business venture you’d like to explore, you have the opportunity to connect with the Curtin Ignition team to discuss your idea and apply for an Ignition Scholarship.
Mentoring opportunities are available for Curtin students including the New to Curtin Mentoring program, Peer Academic Mentoring, and Industry Mentoring. Whether you are looking to be a mentee or mentor, there are a variety of options including mentoring for high school students and people with autism or related conditions.
The library runs a variety of skill-building workshops throughout the year, covering areas such as writing and referencing, developing productivity, and creativity projects and activities through the Makerspace.
The Makerspace, which is part of the Curtin Library, provides a supportive and creative environment for students and staff to explore and experiment with their creativity using the equipment available such as 3D printers, laser cutting, embroidery, crochet, and other exciting ways to foster your creativity.
The Guild offer a loan laptop program to support students who face emergency situations where they are unable to access a computer.
