Scholarships Driving Change in Medicine
13 April 2026

Curtin is continuing to strengthen pathways into the Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery degree for Aboriginal students, with three recent graduates supported by scholarships.
Recent graduates Dr Jaaron Davis, recipient of the Australian Rotary Health Indigenous Scholarship, and Dr Arkayla McPhee, supported by the Rural Health West Indigenous Scholarship, are part of a growing pipeline of future Aboriginal doctors.
These scholarships play a critical role in reducing financial barriers and enabling students to pursue their dreams.
They also help ensure that more Aboriginal doctors are trained to deliver culturally informed care across Western Australia.

This momentum is reflected in Curtin Medical School’s most recent cohort with seven Aboriginal students joining medicine.
Together, they represent a strong and growing community of future health professionals committed to improving health outcomes in their communities.
