Reading time: 3 minutes.

Expressions of interest for this paid opportunity close Sunday 1 November 2026.

Are you a neurodivergent Curtin student who wants to help shape a more accessible and supportive university experience?

Curtin is inviting current neurodivergent students to join a focus group that will provide feedback on university projects, initiatives and services. Your perspectives and ideas will help inform resources, spaces and programs designed to better support neurodivergent students.

Who can take part?

Current Curtin students who identify as neurodivergent are welcome to express their interest, including students with ADHD, autism, dyslexia, dyscalculia, dysgraphia, Tourette syndrome and other forms of neurodivergence. You don’t need a formal diagnosis to participate.

What is involved?

The focus group will meet four times across 2026 and 2027, with one session in 2026 and three in 2027. Each session will run for approximately 90 minutes and take place online or in person.

As a focus group member, you will be invited to:

  • Share your experiences, perspectives and ideas for improvement.
  • Provide feedback on proposed projects, resources and initiatives.
  • Review relevant materials before meetings.
  • Attend sessions online or in person.
  • Help create a respectful environment that values everyone’s experiences.

You can contribute by speaking during meetings, using the chat or providing anonymous feedback through tools such as Padlet, Slido and Mentimeter.

As recognition for your time and contribution, you’ll receive a $50 Prezzee voucher for each meeting you attend. You’ll also receive support to create a LinkedIn and resume entry recognising your involvement.

What projects will you help shape?

Current projects seeking student feedback include:

  • Curtin Neurodivergent Hub: Developing a dedicated website with relevant information and resources.
  • Orientation for new neurodivergent students: Creating content to help students prepare for university life.
  • Sensory maps: Developing maps of Curtin campuses to help students navigate sensory environments.
  • Social stories: Creating resources for Orientation Week, group work and self-advocacy.
  • Sensory and quiet spaces: Providing input into the development of spaces that support different sensory needs.

Your feedback will help inform these projects, and you’ll be told how your input was used or why particular suggestions could not be implemented.

What can you expect from Curtin?

We aim to make participation accessible, transparent and respectful. Curtin will:

  • Provide advance notice of meeting dates and times.
  • Share an agenda at least one day before each meeting.
  • Provide a summary after each meeting.
  • Work to meet accessibility requirements and let you know in advance if a requirement cannot be met.
  • Seek your feedback on the focus group process to help improve future student involvement.

Participation is voluntary, and you can withdraw at any time.
