Reading time: 2 minutes.
Respect starts with each of us. But what does that look like in our everyday interactions, and how can we help create a safer, more inclusive Curtin community?
From 4 November to 16 December 2026, visit Curtin Library’s Respect Starts With You exhibition to discover how this student-created campaign came to life, the difference it has made across our campuses and how you can get involved.
See. Speak. Support.
Created by Curtin students, the Respect Starts With You campaign encourages our community to play an active role in preventing gender-based violence, sexual harassment and sexual assault.
At the heart of the campaign are three simple but powerful messages:
- See: Recognise the signs of gender-based violence and understand what disrespectful behaviour can look like.
- Speak: Challenge disrespectful behaviours and learn how to be an active bystander.
- Support: Show care for yourself and others, and help create a community where people feel safe to speak up and seek support.
Discover the story behind the campaign
Through the exhibition, you’ll get a closer look at how Respect Starts With You was developed, how it has helped spark conversations about respect across Curtin, and the role we can all play in creating positive change.
Whether you’re discovering the campaign for the first time or want to learn more, it’s an opportunity to reflect on what respect means to you and how small, everyday actions can make a difference.
