What happens when artists from across regional Western Australia come together to explore what comes next?
Regional Arts Triennial – Radical Futures brings the work of 49 artists from 13 regional exhibitions across WA to John Curtin Gallery, exploring ideas around culture, community, belonging, the environment and the future.
Developed across 2025 and 2026, the exhibition brings together work shaped by the different stories, environments and aspirations of regional communities across the state.
See regional WA from a different perspective
The works in Radical Futures reflect the places and communities they come from, while exploring broader themes including cultural continuity, ecological responsibility, migration, belonging and community resilience.
Many of the works are site-responsive or collaborative, meaning they have been shaped by the specific places, people and environments connected to them.
Together at John Curtin Gallery, they offer a chance to experience a wide range of perspectives from regional WA in one exhibition.
So, why “Radical Futures”?
Radical Futures is the third Regional Arts Triennial, following The Alternative Archive and Open Borders.
While previous Triennials explored regional histories and the barriers and thresholds of contemporary regional life, this edition turns its attention towards what comes next.
The exhibition considers how regional communities imagine, make and care for the future, positioning wonder and imagination as part of that conversation.
A statewide exhibition, right here at Curtin
The Regional Arts Triennial is held every three years and showcases artists, stories and cultural voices from regional Western Australia.
After bringing these regional perspectives to metropolitan audiences at John Curtin Gallery, Radical Futures will continue as a statewide touring exhibition with ART ON THE MOVE.
So whether you’re interested in art, sustainability, culture, regional WA or simply want to check out something new on campus, Radical Futures is an opportunity to explore the stories and ideas being shared by artists from across the state.
