Curtin University will sponsor the CEDA ‘Future of the Goldfields-Esperance’ conference, to be held at the WA School of Mines in Kalgoorlie on 7 July.
The conference will discuss the challenges and opportunities facing the region, including how this mining-focused region can diversify its economy and build a prosperous, sustainable future for its communities.
Some of the questions the conference will hope to answer are – ‘What does the future hold for the regions mining industry?’ and ‘Will the Western Australian School of Mines be able to deliver enough skilled labour to cope with industry demand in the future?’
The speakers will include Jane Coole, Director of External Relations, Curtin University and Professor Alan Duncan, Director of the Bankwest Curtin Economics Centre, with the Hon. Terry Redman MLA, giving the keynote address.
This event is part of a CEDA State of the Regions Series sponsored by the WA Government Department of Regional Development.
