1 May was a proud day for the Curtin WA School of Mines, when twenty-one students donned their caps and gowns to graduate. They will join the thirty-three students who graduated at the end of 2014 to take the next big leap in their lives and careers.

Former WA School of Mines (WASM) graduate Barry Upton, Managing Director of RUC Cementation, was the guest speaker for the evening and handed out the WASMGA gold medal to MaoHui (Murphy) Juang. Mr Juang also won the Charles Warman Medal.

“I’m really proud of being a new WASM graduate, and also really proud of what I have achieved in my study since English is my second language or even third language,” said Mr Juang, who is now working for RUC Cementation Mining as a graduate engineer.

The evening was also attended by Erfan Mahmoodyan from Engineers Australia; Wendy Duncan, MLA, the Member for Kalgoorlie; Rick Wilson the Member for O’Connor; Allan Pendal, the Deputy Mayor of the City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder; and Hugh Gallagher, the CEO of Kalgoorlie-Boulder Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
