Goldfields University Department of Rural Health (GUDRH) staff and students were proud to join Kalgoorlie-Boulder Urban Landcare Group (KBULG) for their annual Tree Planting Day, helping to support one of the region’s longest-running environmental restoration initiatives. Despite the chilly Sunday morning conditions, roughly 200 volunteers came together at the Wittenoom Street Bushland Reserve to plant approximately 3,000 native seedlings.
The event brought together community members, local organisations and Curtin volunteers, all united by a shared commitment to environmental sustainability and caring for the local landscape. The Kalgoorlie-Boulder Urban Landcare Group has led reforestation and land rehabilitation efforts across the Goldfields for several decades, helping to reduce dust impacts and restore native vegetation throughout the region.
For GUDRH staff and students, the day was a fantastic opportunity to connect with the community, enjoy the outdoors and make a practical contribution to a local initiative with lasting benefits. We thank the Kalgoorlie-Boulder Urban Landcare Group for hosting another successful Tree Planting Day and look forward to seeing the seedlings grow and flourish in the years ahead. 🌱
