Happy National Student Volunteer Week!

This week is all about celebrating the energy, commitment and real-world impact of our student volunteers across Curtin. Through CV!, students are driving change in schools, regional towns, environmental sites and local communities across Western Australia.

If you’re looking to get involved or support the local community this week, here are three opportunities to sign-up for:

1: Millen Primary School – Support a Learner Program

Curtin Volunteers will participate in the Support a Learner Program at Millen Primary School. Our volunteers will work with individual students or small groups during classroom literacy lessons. The focus will be on supporting students in developing their literacy skills through tailored in-class activities and engagement. This activity will run each Tuesday morning during the School term.

2: Inter-Uni Beach Clean Up

Perth NRM works with community groups, schools and local councils to preserve, protect and enhance the coastline and beaches in our region. Various WA University students will come together for the day to assist at the Inter-Uni Beach Clean up at Leighton beach. Our volunteers will get hands-on helping Perth NRM to maintain biodiversity and habitat values of coastal reserves, clean up our beaches, control erosion and have a great time doing it! Once off activity on Saturday, 16th August.

3: Wirambi Landcare Environmental Rehabilitation

Wirambi Landcare are an non-for-profit organisation based in Perth, Western Australia. They work with community groups, councils and DBCA. Their aim is to manage and care for our local ecosystems by conducting surveys and rehabilitation projects. Our Curtin Volunteers! support with environmental Rehabilitation by planting native species and weeding in various locations in the City of Melville on Wednesday mornings, every fortnight.

To every Curtin student giving their time and heart to help others: thank you. Your work uplifts communities, strengthens connections, and shows what leadership really looks like.

National Student Volunteer Week is more than a celebration—it’s a call to action. Whether you’ve volunteered for years or are just getting started, this is your moment to step up, get involved and create change.
