Join us for the opening of two powerful photographic exhibitions as part of our Makuru Season at John Curtin Gallery.

Turrangka…in the shadows surveys a decade of work by artist James Tylor, examining histories of colonisation and their profound impact on Indigenous cultures through experimental photo-media and hand-made Kaurna cultural objects. Curated by Leigh Robb.

Recently acquired by the National Gallery of Australia from the artist’s personal collection, Nan Goldin: The ballad of sexual dependency is one of the defining artworks of the twentieth century. Curated by Anne O’Hehir.

Viewer Advice: The photographs in Nan Goldin’s The ballad of sexual dependency depict the everyday lives, often in intimate detail, of people in Goldin’s immediate community during the late 1970s and early 1980s.
