Department of Surveying
Collection 23
The Department of Surveying became an autonomous Department of the Western Australian Institute of Technology (WAIT) in 1970. Prior to this, it operated as a section within the Department of Civil Engineering. The first head of Department was Dr. L.A. White. Mr S.W Munsie acted as Head until Dr White took up his appointment in June 1970.
Nineteen students graduated in 1970. In that year, final year students produced a comprehensive map of the Canning River in response to a request from the Public Works Department, the first time this had been achieved.
This collection is composed of historical documents and records associated with this Department from 1967 to 1987.
