Overview

Overview

From culture and communications to international relations and geography, the humanities are evolving as technology reshapes the way stories are told.

If you're ready to develop your communication and critical thinking skills for a changing world, this online pathway helps you meet Curtin's admission criteria to a range of degree courses and gives four units of credit towards the Bachelor of Arts and the Bachelor of Creative Arts.

Delivered fully online through our Bentley campus and Open Universities Australia (OUA), this recognised qualification can help you build a career path that's uniquely yours. You'll study the four units one at a time in an extended 20-week study period alongside your secondary school subjects or post-high school as a standalone course.

This pathway is ideal if you enjoy active, values-centred learning, live in a regional area, are home-schooled, or prefer flexible and diverse study options.

Wraparound support

This pathway provides a gradual and supported transition into university study, developing your skills in creative problem-solving, critical thinking, cultural and sustainability literacy, and academic communication. You'll be introduced to university expectations and learning environments step by step, with content available in multiple formats, flexible engagement options, and access to mentoring and study support.

Where this qualification can take you

Once completed, this undergraduate certificate qualifies you for entry into Curtin's Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Creative Arts. The four unis you have completed will be credited towards your degree. These degrees offer a diverse range of majors – from creative writing and languages to history and fine art – with 14 available fully online so you can continue your study journey from wherever you are.

At Curtin, you'll learn how to turn your imagination into impact and prepare for careers across journalism, advertising, design and culture, including roles in content creation and the broader arts and cultural sectors.

What you'll learn

  • create and express ideas and interpretations in written, artistic and media forms
  • apply critical, logical and reflective thinking skills to develop ideas and communicate in academic and professional contexts
  • employ presentation skills to communicate with diverse audiences in a variety of media forms
  • analyse and interrogate relationships between contemporary art and popular cultural practices and between the artist and the community
  • engage respectfully and knowledgeably with First Peoples and people of all cultures in their community and professional practice
