Course structure
What you’ll learn
The course consists of two core dissertation units, research methods units and optional units to support your final dissertation. Your chosen research dissertation topic will be guided and oriented by an experienced supervisor throughout the course.
You will have the opportunity to engage with the latest research related to your topic at the innovative Legacy Living Laboratory (L3), a state-of-the-art data visualisation space and research facility.
L3 is also a meeting place of researchers, practitioners and industry and government partners, providing an ideal hub for learning and networking. Content is supported by demand-driven research at the Curtin University Sustainability and Policy (CUSP) Institute.
The master degree comprises three levels of study, with completion of one level providing credit towards the next. You can choose to exit the degree at the graduate certificate or graduate diploma level.

Entry requirements
All applicants must hold a recognised Bachelor’s degree or graduate degree. Entry to this course is competitive and a strong academic achievement is required.
It is essential that applicants have successfully completed a human biology related unit with an anatomy and physiology focus at tertiary level. Domestic students who have not completed a tertiary unit in the above mentioned area will be able to study the unit through the Health Sciences Graduate Entry Foundation course. Curtin University requires all students to demonstrate competency in English. Please refer to the following for further information https://howtoapply.curtin.edu.au/. It is a condition of enrolment that applicants are screened for, and immunised against contracting a number of infectious illnesses prior to the commencement of the clinical placement. Further information on Health Screening for students in the Faculty of Health Sciences can be obtained by visiting the website https://study.curtin.edu.au/applying/fieldwork-statements/. Screening and vaccination costs are the responsibility of the student. In addition to satisfying Curtin University minimum English standard requirements for midwifery courses, all applicants must also demonstrate English language proficiency as specified in the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia's (NMBA) English language skills registration standard. https://www.nursingmidwiferyboard.gov.au/Registration-Standards/English-language-skills.aspx Refer to English language requirements for Nursing courses for detailed information on how to meet English proficiency for this course. You must complete the declaration form for English primary language competency.
