Outline

Knowledge of digital finance is fundamental to the modern economy and contemporary entrepreneurial success. Developed in consultation with the national Digital Finance Cooperative Research Centre (DFCRC), this specialisation is offered within Curtin's Master of Business Administration (MBA) and MBA (Advanced).

You will learn about the blockchain technologies, digital currency, management strategies, market design, and governance and regulation involved in the transformation of financial markets.

You can also choose to participate in an industry research project with the DFCRC or a Curtin industry partner.

What you'll learn

  • understand fundamental concepts of digital finance, including in relation to financial markets and business contexts, such as: blockchain, cryptoeconomics, and Regulatory Technology (RegTech), from multidisciplinary perspectives, GC1
  • communicate professionally, and in ways that are responsible and appropriate for local, national and international business contexts, GC3, GC4
  • use relevant technologies and industry information to analyse business problems related to digital finance in ways that demonstrate critical thinking and responsible judgement, GC2, GC3, GC6
  • analyse the business implications of the increasing use of digital finance from an organisational perspective, to develop strategies to improve organisational productivity, moderate risk, and/or promote responsible governance, GC2, GC6
  • evaluate the legal, regulatory, ethical, and social challenges and policy implications of the rise of digital finance in domestic and global contexts, GC4, GC6

Admission criteria

What you need in order to get into this course. There are different pathway options depending on your level of work and education experience.

Students must be enrolled in the Master of Business Administration (MC-BUSADM) or the Master of Business Administration (Advanced) (MC-MBAADV). As the Digital Finance Specialisation is a collaboration between multiple universities, some of which are interstate, students must be eligible to undertake online or hybrid units where required.
