Welcome to your last year of school. What an incredible journey, and now you’re in your final year! It’s going to be big, but with the right approach, year 12 won’t be all study and no play. So let’s check your roadmap for year 12 success – which is the first stage in your journey to a fantastic future career.

Create a study routine

To thrive in year 12, establish a routine that suits you. Consistency is key. Identify when you’re most productive and plan your study schedule around those times. Remember to include breaks to rejuvenate yourself – your health and wellbeing will contribute to your overall success.

Find your balance

Outside of study time, continue to do the things that nurture you, enjoying time with your friends and hobbies. Add dedicated blocks of ‘me-time’ into your routine, to recharge and maintain motivation.

Quality over quantity

Studying isn’t about putting in endless hours, and cramming and all-nighters rarely work. Instead, create a routine and focus on the quality of your study sessions. According to productivity app DeskTime, computer activity data showed that the most successful people work for 52 minutes then break for 17.

Relax and explore your options

Don’t worry if you haven’t decided on a career yet, you’ve got time to search and discover. Take our Find U Quiz! You might come across courses and study areas you hadn’t thought of, that suit your personality and strengths.

Keep all your pathways in perspective

Of course year 12 is your focus right now, but it won’t define the rest of your life. Remember that Curtin offers a range of entry pathways if you don’t get your ideal ATAR. Try our pathway finder and you’ll discover other ways into uni that could suit you better.
