The Curtin Carnabys had another exciting and hard-fought season in the 2025 University Basketball League (UBL), showcasing the passion, skill, and energy that defines Curtin sport.

The Women’s team made an impressive run, finishing 5th overall and qualifying for the finals. Despite their determination throughout the season, their journey came to an end after a challenging match against the University of the Sunshine Coast, going down 82–61. Their teamwork and resilience were clear highlights, reflecting the growth and competitive spirit within the program.

In the Men’s competition, standout player Lachlan Bertram delivered one of the most memorable performances in UBL history – dropping a double nickel (55 points) against La Trobe University, coming within just four points of the NBL1 scoring record set by Elijah Pepper. The Men’s team continued to build momentum and chemistry across the season, finishing 9th on the ladder and setting strong foundations for next year.

One of the season’s biggest highlights came during the home Western Derby against UWA, where a packed crowd brought electric energy to Curtin Stadium. The atmosphere was unmatched as students, staff, and supporters filled the stands to cheer on the Carnabys, creating a true home-court advantage and celebrating the spirit of Curtin sport.

As the season wraps up, we commend both teams and coaching staff for their commitment, teamwork, and representation of Curtin with pride.

A huge shoutout goes to all the volunteers who helped make our home games a success — from commentating to game day setup, to on-court activities, and much more! Your energy and dedication played a huge role in bringing the UBL experience to life on campus.
