Sally Webster was a deeply kind and dedicated colleague who believed strongly in equity, compassion and the transformative power of education. Throughout her career at Curtin University, she worked tirelessly to ensure students had access to the care and support they needed to thrive — regardless of their background or circumstances.
Through her work, Sally became a trusted source of support for countless students and a beloved colleague to many across the Curtin community. Her empathy and unwavering commitment to student wellbeing left an indelible impression on all who had the privilege of working alongside her.
Following Sally’s passing, the university renamed its historic hardship fund in her honor to commemorate her work and the light she brought to the community. The Sally Webster Hardship Fund continues her legacy by providing emergency financial support to students facing sudden and overwhelming hardship, ensuring they are not forced to choose between continuing their studies and navigating a crisis. Today, the fund stands as both a beacon of reassurance for students in times of need and a gentle reminder to our community that this work matters deeply, so no student is forced to shoulder hardship alone.
