Unexpected fault with Google Chrome

What is happening?

Google is currently rolling out a software update for Google Chrome version 80+ that is affecting browser cookies (bits of information from websites visited that are stored on your computer). This is having a down-stream impact on staff and student applications that use Single Sign-On (SSO)for example: eStudent or eAcademic).

When students click on a link to one of the affected applicationsafter two minutes from the initial Oasis login, Single Sign-Omay fail, causing a redirect to the Curtin Staff Portal page.

Digital & Technology Solutions is working on resolving this issue as a priority.

What services are being affected?

Services that are not part of the curtin.edu.au domain, may be impacted by the issue when Chrome version 80+ is used as the web browser. This includes:

  • eStudent
  • eAcademic
  • FinanceOne

What do I need to do?

If you use Google Chrome and experience the issues described above, we recommend using a different browser (eg. Microsoft Edge). It is anticipated that other browsers (eg. Microsoft Edge and Mozilla Firefox) will be rolling out the same update later this year.

Alternatively, you can clear your browser history to access the page again.

Note, you will need to close the browser and reopen it for it to be effective.

Next steps

Digital & Technology Solutions is currently investigating solutions to this issue.

Further updates will be provided until it is resolved. In the meantime, please use the workarounds recommended above.
