You know exactly what you want to say in your head… then someone asks you to speak in front of the class and suddenly the words disappear.
Whether it’s answering a question in a tutorial, presenting a group assignment, introducing yourself at a networking event or sitting across from someone in a job interview, speaking confidently can take some getting used to, especially when English isn’t your first language.
StudyPerth’s Find Your Voice Public Speaking Program is a six-week program specifically designed for international students in Western Australia who want to feel more confident communicating in study, work and everyday life.
You don’t need to already be a confident speaker
The program is designed with English-as-a-second-language speakers in mind, so you won’t be expected to walk in and immediately deliver a speech in front of a room.
Instead, you’ll start with low-pressure, small-group practice and gradually build your skills each week, working towards delivering a final speech to the group.
Across the six weeks, you’ll work on:
- building confidence and managing nerves
- using your voice, body language and speech structure effectively
- drafting and structuring speeches
- thinking on your feet
- giving and receiving feedback
- connecting with an audience.
You’ll also receive workshop materials, written feedback and a certificate of completion if you meet the attendance requirements.
Basically, it’s practice for situations you’ll actually face. Think group assignments, presentations, job interviews, networking, speaking up in class and eventually the workplace.
It’s also a chance to meet other international students who may be working through the exact same nerves, while building a network outside your usual classes.

There are six two-hour sessions in total. A $30 non-refundable program fee is required if you’re accepted, and you’ll need to attend all sessions to receive your certificate.

Expressions of Interest close Wednesday 7 October 2026, so if public speaking, presentations or interviews normally make you want to disappear into the back row, this could be a good opportunity to practise somewhere designed for exactly that.
