The end of semester can be a stressful period with final assignment deadlines and exam preparation and it can be easy to forget about taking a break and chilling out. Here are the top five things you can do on the Perth campus to take some well-earned time out.

Visit a cafe

Order a coffee, perk up with some food and chill out at one of the numerous cafes on campus. You can also venture outside to one of the many food trucks for a bite to eat. Some ideal cafe spots to relax include:

  • Guild Cafe Basement – Building 204
  • Common Ground – Building 104
  • Concept Coffee Co. – Building 106G
  • Mallokup – Building 210

Go outdoors

Relax and chill out in some of the vast outdoor spaces and gardens around campus. You have the choice of laying back in one of the hammocks outside Building 204 or exploring one of the many campus gardens. The Zen Garden (Building 401) and the Spiritual Garden (between Buildings 307 & 308) are both tranquil and provide a great spot to unwind.

Get physical

If sitting still is not your idea of a break, get active instead. Curtin Stadium has a range of options for you to let off some steam. The Fitness Centre has a well-equipped gym, group fitness classes, personal training and ladies-only fitness classes (membership and costs may apply). FreePlay is also available for Curtin students from 9 am to 11 am on weekdays during the semester and is your chance to play many activities for free (don’t forget to bring your student ID card!).

Admire the arts

Have you ever stopped to admire the public art around Curtin? Many murals can be found outside and are great for an Insta snap or two. Building 204 and Building 208 are great spots to check out. The John Curtin Gallery (Building 200A) is Curtin’s on-campus art gallery and showcases many exhibitions during the year. Before you go, check out their website as opening times can vary.

Retail therapy

If shopping is more of your mantra, you can browse some of the retail spaces on campus. The School Locker (Building 103/101) has a great range of tech and supplies, and the G-Mart has a range of essentials including the incredible lolly wall (Building 106G, Guild Precinct).

If you want to check out any of these spots, you can always search and explore through the Curtin Campus Map for the Perth campus.
