Curtin’s current learning management system (LMS), Blackboard, will be replaced by Canvas and rolled out to all students across all Australian and global campuses.
In preparation for the transition to Canvas, Respondus LockDown Browser will now include a Canvas option from Wednesday 16 September.
If you’ve taken an online exam in Blackboard before, the experience will feel familiar. Respondus works much the same way in Canvas, with a small change that makes getting into your test even simpler.
What’s changing?
Because Respondus is now connected to both Blackboard and Canvas, you’ll notice something new when LockDown Browser launches: a drop-down menu asking which learning system you’re using.
Make sure to select the right one:
- Blackboard: for your Blackboard units
- Canvas: for your Canvas units
Picking the correct option ensures your test loads properly and your progress is tracked in the right place, so it’s a quick step worth double-checking.
How does LockDown Browser workflow differ between the two systems?
Blackboard
- Open LockDown Browser first
- Then head to Blackboard and launch your test
Canvas
- Simply open your test directly in Canvas
- LockDown Browser will launch automatically. If you don’t have it installed yet, you’ll be prompted to download and install it before continuing.
