Could you be one of the next hosts of I’m at Curtin, Now What?

Ever watched a Curtin video and thought, I could do that?

We’re looking for current Curtin students to join the 2027 host team for I’m at Curtin, Now What?, our student-led video series about figuring out uni life, discovering Perth and answering the questions students actually have.

And yes, it’s a paid opportunity.

What would I actually be doing?

One episode might have you trying to find the best-value food on campus. Another could have you learning a new skill, exploring somewhere around Perth, testing a student service or asking other students what they really think.

You won’t be standing in front of a camera reading a script all day.

We want hosts who are willing to try things, ask questions, have genuine reactions and bring their own personality to the series.

The videos are designed to help students, particularly those who are still getting used to studying and living in Australia, work out the things nobody necessarily explains when you first arrive.

Do I need presenting experience?

No.

You don’t need to be an influencer, actor or experienced presenter.

We’re more interested in students who are:

  • curious and willing to try new things
  • comfortable talking to different people
  • able to share their genuine opinion
  • reliable and happy working with a small filming team
  • themselves when the camera turns on

Not completely confident on camera yet? You can still apply. Being natural, relatable and willing to give it a go matters more than sounding like a professional presenter.

What’s in it for me?

As one of our hosts, you’ll get paid filming opportunities throughout 2027 while building experience in presenting, video and digital content.

You’ll also get the chance to experience different parts of Curtin and Perth, meet other students and create videos that could make someone else’s transition to university a little easier.

And sometimes, your job really will involve getting paid to try something new.

How do I apply?

The application is quick. We’ll ask you a few questions about yourself and you’ll submit a short 30-second video so we can get a feel for who you are on camera.

No fancy equipment or editing required. Your phone is completely fine.

For the video, simply introduce yourself and tell us one thing you think every new Curtin student should know, and why.

It can be useful, funny, unexpected or just something you genuinely wish someone had told you.

Think you could be our next host?

Applications close 20 November 2026.
