What does it take to stand out after graduation?
While good grades are important, employers are also looking for people who can communicate effectively, work well with others and confidently step into new opportunities. That’s why experiences outside the classroom can be just as valuable as what you learn in your degree.
Last week, around 70 postgraduate students from Curtin’s Faculty of Business and Law (FBL) took part in the 2026 Postgraduate High Achievers Program, an exclusive faculty initiative designed to help students build career-ready skills, expand their professional networks and gain confidence in their next steps.
Over two days, students participated in interactive workshops covering resume writing, interview skills, employment pathways and workplace communication. The sessions encouraged students to think about how they can showcase their strengths, communicate their value to employers and prepare for future career opportunities.
But it wasn’t all workshops and career conversations.
One of the highlights of the program was the opportunity to connect with other high-achieving FBL postgraduate students. Whether discussing career goals, sharing experiences or simply getting to know new people, students had plenty of opportunities to build meaningful connections with peers from across the faculty.
The experience wrapped up with an afternoon at Prison Island Perth, where students worked together to tackle a range of team challenges. It was a fun way to put communication, problem-solving and teamwork skills into practice while strengthening the connections formed throughout the program.
Programs like PG High Achievers highlight the Faculty of Business and Law’s commitment to supporting students beyond the classroom. Alongside academic success, the program encourages students to develop the confidence, professional skills and networks that can help them thrive throughout their careers.
For the students who participated, the two-day experience was an opportunity to challenge themselves, learn from others and invest in their future, while having some fun along the way.
