Want to build real industry experience while earning credit toward your degree?
The Faculty of Business and Law Internship and Business Clinic Program offers you the opportunity to complete a credited Internship or Business Clinic placement.
You can choose between a:
- Facilitated Internship – sourced by Curtin’s Industry and Community Hub
- Bring Your Own (BYO) Internship – sourced by you and approved by Curtin
- A Business Clinic placement – in the field of accounting, marketing, or tech consulting
Internships and Clinics are worth 25 credits and may count towards your Capstone requirement (subject to eligibility and study plan structure).
How the program works
Internships
Students will typically complete 120 hours in the workplace over the study period, undertaking meaningful, discipline relevant work under the supervision of an industry professional. In addition to the placement hours, students will complete assessment tasks linked to their internship unit that encourage reflection on their professional experience and skill development.
While the Faculty of Business and Law strives to provide as many internship opportunities as possible through strong industry connections, internships are competitive and cannot be guaranteed.
Business Clinics
Students will typically complete 90 hours on campus, with workload designed to reflect a real-world consultancy environment. Students will attend the Clinic one day a week during the semester and work as part of a structured team delivering professional services to community members, small businesses and organisations.
Students will undertake team-based project work, attend scheduled client meetings, research, plan, and prepare client reports, attend feedback sessions with academics and industry mentors, with a final presentation and written report delivered to the client.
