Four Curtin academics and one PhD candidate are finalists across three categories in the WA Science Awards.
Professor Igor Bray, Head of Physics and Astronomy at Curtin, and Professor Steven Tingay, Director of Curtin Institute of Radio Astronomy, are both finalists in the category ‘Scientist of the Year’.
Research fellow Dr Debbie Silvester and Dr Ryan Loxton from the Department of Mathematics and Statistics have been named finalists for Woodside Early Career Scientist of the Year, and PhD candidate Mr Mark Zammit is in the running for ExxonMobil Student Scientist of the Year.
The winners will be announced at a ceremony on November 21, 2013. The WA Science Awards are held by the Department of the Premier and Cabinet’s Office of Science and are designed to recognise and celebrate the achievements of Western Australia’s science community.
