An industrious twelve months has seen Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) Curtin named runner-up champions at 2012 SIFE Australia National Conference held in Melbourne.

SIFE is an international non-profit organisation that works with leaders in business and higher education to mobilise university students to make a difference in their communities while developing the skills to become socially responsible business leaders.

Participating university teams apply business concepts to develop projects that improve the quality of life and standard of living for people in need.

A relatively new team, SIFE Curtin has experienced significant growth during the past 12 months, establishing three new projects – HALO, FEED and Blossom – while also redesigning their existing project, ProSocial. Their hard work was recognised when they were named National Runner-Up Champions.

The University of Western Australia team was named the National Champion and will go on to represent Australia at the SIFE World Cup, this year hosted by Secretary Hillary Clinton in Washington DC.

During the conference, SIFE students also had the opportunity to network with some of Australia’s leading business minds and meet fellow SIFE students from 28 universities across the country.

More information on SIFE Curtin’s projects can be found at sifecurtin.org.
