With thousands of students beginning their university career, Curtin’s Bentley campus was abuzz with activity recently as part of StartUp Week. The bi-annual event kick starts each university semester and combines faculty and course specific advice for new students, as well as information on the university’s social offerings.

Curtin Connect co-ordinator Scott Morgan said the aim of StartUp Week was to ensure students were able to handle any future obstacles that may otherwise cause them to drop out of university.

“We run an intensive orientation because university studies have shown that students who attend orientation at their campus tend to have a higher success rate of completing their studies at university,” he said.

Traditionally the Wednesday of StartUp Week is the busiest, when the University’s social clubs take to the main thoroughfare of Sir Charles Court Promenade. This year was no exception, with a record turnout despite the heat.
