Curtin University is establishing a campus in the United Arab Emirates, in the Dubai International Academic City, with degree programs set to commence in January 2018.

The campus strengthens Curtin’s standing as a global university and a recognised international leader in research and education.

Curtin University Vice-Chancellor Professor Deborah Terry said the campus will expand upon Curtin’s current global footprint in a major and new geographical region.

“The campus will offer Curtin programs to students from the Middle East, the Indian Sub-Continent, Africa and Central Asia,” Professor Terry said.

“Establishing a campus in the region will also provide an opportunity for Curtin to develop collaborative research centres with key industry and international university partners in areas of strategic interest.”

The United Arab Emirates’ government priorities for economic development and potential skills gaps, has informed Curtin’s proposed course offerings.

“The initial courses will include a range of undergraduate and postgraduate programs in Business, Science, as well as the Humanities,” Professor Terry said.

“It is expected that additional courses will be rolled out progressively in subsequent years.”

Curtin will appoint a resident Pro Vice-Chancellor to head the campus, who will provide oversight of all academic matters, including academic staff selection, course materials, enrolment and entry standards, assessments and examinations, teaching standards, and academic governance structures.

Curtin University Dubai will be unveiled at the region’s leading student recruitment event, The Gulf Education & Training Exhibition (GETEX) on Thursday 13 April 2017.

The availability of Curtin University’s renowned degree programs will be an advantage to students who want to live, work and study in a modern city like Dubai and will further enhance Dubai as the premier destination for education in the region.

Curtin University Dubai will be the third overseas campus for the University, following the establishment of Curtin Sarawak in 1999 and Curtin Singapore in 2008.
