Twenty graduating students from Curtin University’s fashion design course will showcase both their design and organisational skills at ARCADIA, Curtin’s 2012 fashion design graduate show, to be held on 14 November at 7pm at the Curtin Stadium.

As well as creating the runway collections, the students have been engaged in every aspect of the graduate parade – from lighting and design, to marketing and promotion, guest services and public relations.

Anne Farren, Curtin’s Coordinator of Fashion Design, said the creations would challenge the way people thought about garments and their construction and would showcase the new technology that the University and the local fashion industry now has at its fingertips.

“The Curtin fashion degree provides students with strong theoretical, conceptual and practical skills, helping to distinguish them as designers and prepare them for industry,” Ms Farren said.

“Just as technology has shaped the way we communicate and socialise with one another, so too has it shaped the future of fashion.

“With the establishment and launch of the Fashion Design and Research Hub at Curtin this semester, specialist machinery is now available to assist in the conception, design and construction of garments.”

The event has sponsorship support from local companies such as Chadwick’s and OMG productions, and national brands including Betts.

Tickets are $35 and are available from the following venues:

Venn Gallery: 16 Queen St, Perth
Love in Tokyo: 61-63 High St, Fremantle
Ricarda: 399 Hay Street, Subiaco
Snow White Drycleaners: 91A Waratah Avenue, Dalkeith
