Curtin University has appointed Professor Tony Travaglione to the position of Pro Vice-Chancellor Curtin Business School (CBS).

Professor Travaglione has a long history with Curtin, having completed his undergraduate degree and beginning his academic career at the University before going on to hold a number of senior positions in business schools around Australia.

As leader of Curtin’s respected business school, Professor Travaglione will continue to build upon the School’s strong reputation within Western Australia and nationally, as well as work towards implementing a number of key initiatives.

Professor Travaglione said he was very pleased to have been appointed to the role and is excited about the future of CBS.

“I am looking forward to working with my CBS and Curtin colleagues to further progress our steps towards being considered among the top 20 universities in Asia by 2020,” he said.

“Some of my immediate priorities as Pro Vice-Chancellor include the establishment of a law program within CBS, and strengthening workplace learning across our courses to increase the workplace readiness of our graduates.”

Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academic, Professor Colin Stirling said he looked forward to working closely with Professor Travaglione to reinforce the quality work being undertaken within CBS.

“Professor Travaglione’s experience and passion for business and executive education will be a great asset for CBS and for Curtin,” he said.

“He was selected from an impressive field of applicants, after an extensive international search.

“We are confident his strong background in leadership and management will contribute to excellent outcomes for Curtin Business School.”

Professor Travaglione holds a Bachelor of Business, a Master of Industrial Relations and a Doctor of Philosophy.

Prior to taking on the role of Acting Pro Vice-Chancellor CBS in late 2011, Professor Travaglione was Head of Curtin’s School of Management.

In 2004 Professor Travaglione was a Visiting Professor of Management at Stanford University in the United States.
