A record amount of $7,200 was raised by Curtin staff and students for Daffodil Day this year.

Event Coordinator Maureen Meredith said the total was beyond her expectations.

‘Usually we raise around $4,000 for Daffodil Day, but the figure this year was such a nice surprise,’ she said.

‘It is a testament to all the dedicated volunteers and the generosity of Curtin’s staff and students.’

More than 60 volunteers helped sell daffodils and merchandise, and rattled donation tins around campus to make the two-day event a success.

Daffodil Day is one of four events run annually by the Curtin Community Project who have raised more than $500,000 for charity since 1996.

Daffodil Day raises money for research, education and support services and is the Cancer Council’s largest annual fundraising event.
