The Scholarship
What began as a bursary for students facing financial hardship has evolved into multiple types of WASM Scholarships including the WASM Mining Excellence Scholarship, a merit-based award introduced in 2022 to attract the best and brightest students to the School.
Thanks to the generosity of donors, 29 students have benefited from this life-changing opportunity since the first scholarships were awarded in 2018.
As of late 2025…
We are proud to share that to date, 19 of these recipients have successfully completed their degrees, with many now contributing to the mining and resources sector in meaningful ways.
The Fund stands strong with a balance of $1,665,470, enabling us to offer six scholarships in 2026: three merit-based and three equity-based, with a total value of $66,000.
These awards not only ease the financial burden for students but also empower them to pursue excellence and innovation in their studies and future careers.

“After graduating, I joined Holcim’s Graduate Program, where I gained valuable hands-on experience in project management and engineering, and I was given the chance to work at as a Project Supervisor.
