Bustanul Arifin

Bustanul Arifin

Hi, My name is Bustanul Arifin and I am running for the Postgraduate position on University Council. As a postgrad student, I’m doing PhD in International Relations within the Faculty of Humanities focusing on international peace and conflict.

Previously I completed a master’s degree in International Relations in the UK, and a bachelor’s degree in International Relations in Indonesia. I have been in industry for more than 10 years with a demonstrated history of working in consulting companies, manufacturing companies, educational industry, and social community organisations, in Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore.

Those experiences will support my plan to improve student experiences at Curtin, especially for postgraduate students. Many postgraduate students deal with the issues of funding, research experience, study-load, and mental health. The university should be made aware of and understand student conditions and be continuously making their experiences better.

Vote [1] Bustanul Arifin for University Council.

I seek to be elected as the Postgraduate representative on the University Council to build upon this foundation and contribute to making Curtin a more excellent place for postgraduate studies.

I come into this position with 16 years post-bachelor’s degree work experience and student leadership role at undergraduate (University of Cape Coast, Ghana) and graduate levels (Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute, Basel).

With this experience in being a student in three continents and in student leadership in two continents, I believe I can contribute meaningfully to the work of the Council to further make Curtin University great. I therefore pledge to work as a post graduate representative to advance the interest of Curtin University.

Thank you!

Name: Samuel Oppong
Student ID: 21294512

The term of office for the newly elected postgraduate student to Council will be from 1 January 2024 to 31 December 2024.
