Enrolled Nurse to Registered Nurse

Stream overview

This stream is designed for applicants who are registered as an AQF Diploma level 5 Enrolled Nurse. It will give you the qualification you need to become a Registered Nurse (Division 1) with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia.

In this stream, you will increase your knowledge of the biological, behavioural and nursing sciences, and study the relationship between individuals, their families and communities, to deliver appropriate patient-centred care.

Your learning will involve interprofessional education, allowing you to study with different nursing and medical specialists from a range of fields. This will increase your interdisciplinary knowledge and help solidify your position as an active, contributing member of an interprofessional healthcare team.

You will complete a minimum of 680 hours of professional placements in diverse clinical settings, including public hospitals and private practice in both metropolitan and rural locations.

At times, you may be required to undertake your placement at a pre-approved workplace in Perth if you need to practice in a specialist area such as critical care.

This stream is available at:

• Curtin Perth
• Curtin Kalgoorlie
• Great Southern Universities Centre (Albany).

Students studying through Kalgoorlie or Albany will complete a combination of online and face-to-face learning. Professional placements are undertaken in a range of healthcare settings, and some specialist placements may require travel to Perth.

How to apply

Apply for the Bachelor of Science (Advanced Nursing) and, in the application portal, select the Enrolled Nurse to Registered Nurse stream. You will need to upload supporting documentation to demonstrate that you meet the entry requirements.
