The property is named in honour of Erica Underwood MBE, who was awarded the Member of the Order of the British Empire in recognition of her work in radio, education and community service. She was the first psychologist trained in Western Australia and the first female member of the council of Curtin’s predecessor institution, the Western Australian Institute of Technology.
