Thesis Fest provides Higher Degree by Research (HDR) students with skills to engage with research and support wellbeing to complete their thesis. Register to secure your place today!
Are you struggling with motivation or feeling disengaged from your thesis? Is your wellbeing impacting your progress? Would you like an opportunity to network with other HDR students? Then Thesis Fest is for you!
Running from 1-2 July, Thesis Fest is designed to help you re-engage with your research and work towards final submission with confidence and success. It doesn’t matter if you have just started your PhD or nearing completion, this event is recommended for all HDR students at any stage of your journey.
By attending, you will gain strategies and ideas to support you with both the progress of your research and your wellbeing. It will also be an opportunity to connect with other students sharing the same journey, as well as with people and support services at Curtin to help with your progression.
In 2023, Thesis Fest received a Vice Chancellor’s Award for Excellence for Professional Staff. Come and see for yourself why!

Registrations
Registrations are now open for all HDR students. You can register for one or both days. Even if you can’t attend a full day, we still encourage you to register. You may attend in-person or register to listen to the live stream on the day. Some presentations may be recorded for later viewing. Those presentations not being recorded are noted on the program.
If attending in-person, please bring a device such as a laptop or mobile phone. This year students can ask questions and give feedback online via Slido, and you will be able to access an online event guide during the presentations. Don’t forget your charger!
During the breaks we will be offering a variety of fun and engaging activities such as a Q&A wall, a photo station and creative Makerspace activities.
We will also have a profile wall at the event which will help you to connect with like-minded students to establish or expand your network. After you have registered, your confirmation email will provide more information and a link inviting you to create your profile. Students registered for the livestream are also invited to be part of the profile wall to also benefit from this valuable networking opportunity.
Humanities Horizons Research Fest
The Humanities Horizons Research Fest will be running on Friday 4 July 2025 as a satellite event to Thesis Fest. This is open to all HDR students. Please visit the registration page for more details.
