About the Curtin University Archives

We preserve Curtin’s memory, culture and history.

The Archives keeps records from the early technical colleges (1908-1966) which helped form our days as the Western Australian Institute of Technology (1967-1987) and from our more recent history as Curtin University (1987 onwards). We take in information that is physical and digital, as well as objects and textiles.

This information helps to:

Provide evidence of our activities in tertiary education

Provide evidence of our business activities

Provide research and study opportunities

Share our history with our community

Donating to the Archives

Donations to the Archive are welcome. We regularly receive enquiries and donations from former staff and students. However, before accepting a donation we check for the following:

  • There is alignment with our collecting, access and sharing aims and goals;
  • The proposed donation is in good condition and is free of mould, dirt, insects, or other conditions which could detrimentally affect our collections and records;
  • Copyright and ownership arrangements are clear.

Read our collecting statement.
