What if you could explore one of Australia’s most famous shipwrecks without ever getting your feet wet?
Some shipwrecks are so deep underwater or remote that very few people will ever get to see them up close – until now.
As part of an Australian Research Council (ARC) Linkage Project, researchers have created large-scale digital 3D models of the HMAS Sydney (II) and HSK Kormoran wrecks using sophisticated technology running at the Curtin HIVE (Hub for Immersive Visualisation and eResearch) and Pawsey Supercomputing Centre.
Join Associate Professor Andrew Woods as we mark the 85th anniversary of the sinking of HMAS Sydney (II). He will unveil new views of these historically significant shipwrecks and explore how digital technology is helping preserve and share Australia’s underwater heritage.
Hosted inside Curtin HIVE, this event offers a unique opportunity to experience these 3D models at an extraordinary scale.
